Culture

Russia’s capital Moscow is one of the greatest European cultural centres with its museums, galleries and architectural benchmarks. All these priceless attractions are both very close to the centre, and astonishingly good value for entrance tickets.

Visit The Kremlin with its famous Armoury Chamber that preserves one of the world’s best collections of precious items dating back from 5,000 BC to the present day. Enjoy priceless masterpieces from ancient Russian icons of Andrey Rublev to paintings by Matisse, Monet and Picasso at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art.

Russian art is one of the great hidden gems, absurdly under- appreciated in the west. The two Tretyakov Art Galleries, housing the best of Russian art up to 1900 and the C 20th respectively, are among the world’s greatest collections. For those with a more eclectic taste, the Mayakovsky museum and the four galleries of the Moscow Museum of Modern art are must-sees. Even teenagers beg to stay longer in these inspiring places. The Russian revolution was one of the most momentous events of the modern age, and its spirit and details are vividly recounted in the essential Museum of the Twentieth Century, housed in the former English Club, on Tverskaya.

But surpassing all of these, Moscow’s real gift to the world is the Metro system itself. Not only the world’s most popular underground railway, it is architecturally the finest two, and all for amazingly low prices. Among the ‘peoples’ palaces to be discovered are the stations at Mayakovsky, Ploshchad Revolutsy, Novoslobodskaya and Komsomolskaya.

You can also choose to visit St. Peterburg, the former capital of the Russian Empire, with its gorgeous Hermitage and breathtaking Russian Tsars’ palaces of Peterhof and Pushkin City. If this is your taste, please mention this in your enquiry form and we will organize it for you.
